Summer Lovin'

Chris was nice enough to shoot this over my way this morning, and now I'm nice enough to put it up.

Hope you guys enjoy ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL # 7 today!

That's truly gorgeous. I totally want a poster of that. ^_^

Amazing, beautiful. And the skulls remind me of the drawings of Pushead, who did promo art and designs for The Misfits, Metallica, and Dr. Octagon, back in the '80s and '90s.

Really looking forward to reading this!

Review for Angel #7: http://buffyversecomics.blogspot.com/2008/05/been-long-while-but-heres-angel-7.html

Very pretty, although I still prefer Franco's art in black and white. The coloured version loses some of the original's detail, and some of its... innocence, by enhancing the hellish atmosphere (although I'm guessing that was the point -- giving it a noir vibe).

So that is Illyria. I find that vastly preferrable to the other alternatives (Fred or Spider), but it's hard to picture her kissing Spike in such a romantic fashion. Will wait and see, though -- I'm past "twitchy" and just curious and kinda excited now, after your reassurances. (Sorry we can be so needy and pessimistic at times!)

That cover is BLOODY BRILLIANT!!! I love it!

Reassurances? I'm trying to forget about the drawing with the whip, and I'm hoping Spike and Illyria's thing is more like what this cover is showing. I'm not sure I like the idea of Spike still being into the rough stuff now that he has a soul, but it shouldn't be so bad if that's the case.

Wow. Wesley would have a hissy fit. Wonderful work though. But I'm bummed to hear that George won't be in it. Or was that another Spike book you were planning? Either way, still no George equals bummed.

I'm looking forward to the day when I'll have a whole longbox of Lynch comics.

I'm also looking forward to the day when I meet a really cute girl who loves Angel and she has just discovered his Spike and Angel books and I can be like, 'You know, I was a fan of his long before he became Whedon's next-of-kin.' And then we'd fall madly in love.

Sigh.

Oh, I don't know... He seemed pretty comfortable talking about bullwhips and schoolgirl outfits and how Buffy had been "getting her naughty on" with him in Dirty Girls.

(Don't get me wrong, though, if I had to choose, I'd take Spike/Illyria over Spike/Spider any day.)

While Rough-and-Nasty certainly is consistent with what we've seen of Spike in the past, let's not forget there's also Touchy-Feely Spike from "End of Days," who just wanted to cuddle. ;)

I guess the paradoxes of Spike's character are part of what makes him so fun!

Oh, absolutely. I'm not denying the existence of Touchy-Feely Spike (I love him to bits, anyway -- the way he handles Buffy in As You Were? c'mon)... just saying that Rough-and-Nasty Spike isn't gone, either. ;)

Hmm.... Illyria's hair looks like tentacles/octopus arms here. Not really a bad thing, she's kind of squid-like in her past form anyway. :) Or maybe its just flowing in the wind. Its just that tentacles are coming out of the building behind her and her hair looks like its moving the same way. Strange to say it, but having hair like that may be better than using any and all the hair conditioners in the world, since the hair looks "alive". :D Heh heh heh. (Who wouldn't want hair like that?)

The cover is truly astounding, especially now that its colored!I thought it couldn't get better, but it did.

This should be quite awesome.
