Guess what I finished writing?

ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL # 17 has been written in bits, kinda like chapters and such. I write a few pages, and when the "scene" comes to an end, I send it off to Franco.

Well, the last few pages were sent in last night. Now I can just sit back and rest easy and enjoy the pages as Franco draws'em and sends'em in. Of course there will be proofreading and writing stuff for the trade, but the bulk of the work, the heavy lifting, it's all done on my side.

I'm sure a longer, more thought out emotional post about this experience will come eventually as we get closer to our last two issues coming out, but for now, let me just say thank you to everyone who read it, got excited about it, talked to me about it, and supported the book. It was a long, fun, stressful, insanely rewarding road.

The funny thing is, as soon as I send in the pages, Franco and I start talking about what we're doing next. He misses Beck and Tok. So do I.

Congrats and here's hoping you get a chance to write these characters again. The whole arc rane true to the feel of what came before. Good luck on whatever's coming next.

I get how there's nothing better than getting long-term work done. I'll miss reading the series nonetheless. You've done a really good job.

A great addition to the series Brian, well done!

Also was that last part a sneaky wee hint to more Shadow Pupets one day?

Wow, I can't believe it's coming to a close. Thank you for writing and keeping the Angel series alive. I know the comics aren't the most lucrative writing job available to you, but you've joined the ranks in writing a story loved by so many fans.

We fans are grateful to you for bringing Angel back to life and I'm sure we'll be following your career post-After the Fall, wherever it may lead. That's how it works in the Whedonverse - the writers get their own fanbase just like the actors.

For whatever geeky criticisms we fans have thrown your way over the course of this story, I hope you know how much joy and pure entertainment we've had from holding this comic in our hands every month. And, ya know, reading it.

Two to go. Wow.

Congrats Brian! You work on the comic has been so awesome. Thanks for that, and also for being so cool about interacting with readers. I'll be looking forward to whatever other stories that you decide to publish, Angel-verse or no.

And I miss Tok and Beck as well.

I'm excited to see the last two issues. It's been a strange, amazing, hilarious, heartbreaking, and generally wonderful story thus far.
*crosses fingers and hopes for a new Spike series with Beck and Tok*

I'm enjoying After the Fall alot and can't wait to read the last two issues. I hope you've enjoyed writing it as much as it's been a joy to read.

Tok and Beck are wonderful characters who it would be great to see again. I think that Spike should find out why Tok did not wait to say goodbye to him.

I'm so excited to read the end of ATF... Also thrilled and anxious.
It's my first time in reading comics and I'm now a complete fan !

You did a really good work with this season 6, reaching the high level of Angel the serie.

You found each character's voice so perfectly and mixed the emotions so well !!
"A la" Whedon !!!

Thanks again for all these moments et good luck for your next work !

Best wishes from a french fan...

Kudos Brian!!

Thank you so much! Thanks for keeping Angel alive after the show's cancellation. The comics are amazing - I was never into comics before but after the end of both the shows I had to read these. You've done a fantastic job with these characters and I only hope Angel finally finds some happiness in the end (IMO with Buffy!) - I don't know if my heart can take any more pain!

The idea of not seeing Angel issue with the names Lynch and Urru at the top makes me terribly sad. The last issues, while exciting, should prove to be bitter sweet.

Brian, you've been wonderful. Thank you, from one fan to another.

The unanimous feeling among people I know who've read both Angel:ATF and Buffy Season 8 has been that your Angel series is far superior. Thank you for such a great series!

I loved the last two issues! Thank you, Bryan! You're the best! I'm sad about Connor's death – Connor wasn't one of my favorite character in ATS, but I loved him in After The Fall. Spike and Connor were a good team... And Spike After The Fall series were awesome! And I'm agreeing with Fenderlove – I'm crossing my fingers for new Spike series! I voted for Beck, but I'm glad to see Spike with Beck, Tok, Beta George and with the others again.
And I hope Spike will continue in new Angel Aftermath series – he is my most favorite character and only his presence can make me to give my money for the Wendonverse comic books.
Thank you again for ATF series and for Asylum and Shadow Puppets!

Simply put - if not for Angel season 6 and Buffy season 8, I would NOT be reading comics at all PERIOD!!!

Today my collection hovers around the 300 count, most of them IDW's stuff, but with out the above two, I would own nary a one!!

I have just started Angel: After the Fall, since I wanted to wait a bit, until a few issues were underway, before I picked it up. I just finished the first hardcover volume (issues 1-5), and I have to say "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" As if that wasn't clear enough, THANK YOU!

I'm a huge Angel fan, one of the few Buffyverse fans who loves Angel as much as Buffy, I think. Angel also contains my favorite Whedon character: Wesley (I have a thing for the Watchers- not Quentin Travers- just Wesley and Giles...don't judge). Thanks for bringing him back without minimizing the sacrifice he made in NFA. You mentioned that bringing Wesley back was a controversial decision, but I'm in the camp that feels that Angel isn't Angel w/o Wesley. In fact, I feel you can take away any Angel character with relative ease, EXCEPT Angel (obviously) and Wesley.

Glad to see Connor grow into his father's son, and glad to see familiar faces, especially Lorne, Spike and Illyria. Btw, I now plan on picking up your Spike books.

So, I just had to drop in after issue 5 to say Thank you (for the millionth time) and Congratulations on finishing the series. Here's hoping you'll visit the Angelverse often.

P.S. Happy New Year!

As you can see from all the comments above this, it’s perfectly clear that we are the ones who should be grateful. Because Angel: After the Fall is really that amazing and that means your work is really that great. :)
I… I planned to write a long, long comment and to express really emotionally my deep love for the comics, but now I don’t think it’s necessary, because I know you are a busy man and I don’t want to steal from you time. So I am just gonna say one simple “I love it” and I hope that it will make you smile :)
I love it. :)

And I wish you a lot of luck and fun with your new projects. ^^
